Tiantan Park

Although Tiantan has no rides,it offers ample room to run around,throw a Frisbee and get away from the crowds.The rose garden is worth a look when in season.And there's superior people-watching to be had in the covered galleries east of the Altar of Heaven.Get a kick out of visiting the park ar dawn,when practitioners of arcane and mystifying forms of exercise come out in force.Combine a stroll through Tianran with a visit to the Natural Science Museum.

Tuanjiehu Park

Did you know that there's a beach with a wave pool less than 15 minutes' walking distance from Pacific Century Place? Tuanjiehu is home to downtown Beijing's best and most hygienically conscious water park,which is great fun on summer weekdays-less so on weekends when it teems with masses seeking relief from the heat.Tuanjiehu also features a roller-skating park,several rides and boats.Budding ornithologists may enjoy the pigeon house.

Wisdon Spring Technical Skills Training Center

Wisdon Sping is sanctuary for street kids,run by a former businesswoman and a former street kid.In a converted chili factory,37 young people between the ages of 12 and 20 get three meals a day,a basic Chinese and English education plus techinical skills classes like computer education,management or cooking.The center is supported by private donations.

Enormou Yuyuantan Park attracts families and student groups on full-day outings.There's plenty of room here to fly kites and a big aquatic park,with many slides and an area for younger children.Other bonuses include ice chairs in winter and cherry blossoms in spring.You can catch the boat to the Summer Palace near the park's south gate.

Zizhuyuan Park

Purple Bamboo Park in Haidian District has a network of lakes and canals to explore by boat or ice chair,as well as a spacious playround with a sea of balls,slides,rocking horses and more.You could make it an enriching educational day by asking yout children to pick out the ten-plus different species of bamboo found on site.
